Michelle Wood - Sea Tern Print

Sea Tern was set up by Michelle Wood, an artist based in Whitley Bay on the North East coast of England. Her work is inspired by the coast.

From a previous career as an economic researcher & lecturer, she changed direction & completed a degree in Fine Art & Visual Culture at Northumbria University. It was there that she discovered printmaking & it became her passion.

Although etching & monoprint are her main techniques, Michelle has knowledge of other types of printmaking including lithography, screenprinting, collagraphs & linocutting.

After qualifying & working as a secondary art teacher for 5 years, Michelle knew that she wanted to use her skills & experience to help people by using creative print activities.

She bought a traditional, portable printing press & set up Sea Tern Print CIC as a social enterprise. Michelle now works with lots of different groups across the north east of England & provides tailored workshops with a pop-up print studio at their venues.

"Every session is different & I work with wonderful people of all ages."

Michelle lives with her family in Whitley Bay & works from her studio at home.
